What is G20?
G20 is actually a group of the 20 largest economies of the world. It includes 19 countries and two big organizations – the European Union and the African Union. All of them together represent about 85% of the world’s economy and more than 75% of trade.

The G20 conference is held in different countries every year. This year (2025), it is being held in South Africa. The US has got the hosting rights for the next year, i.e., 2026. And on behalf of the US, Trump has decided that it will be held at Doral Resort in Miami.
This is the same Resort that Trump bought in 2012. It has four golf courses, a 48,000 square feet spa, a large swimming pool with a 125-foot-long slide, and a 24,000 square feet ballroom. Just by hearing it, you must be thinking that the place is no less than a five-star.
Trump, while addressing a press conference at the White House, said everyone wants the conference to be held here because it is very close to the airport and the location is very good. And most importantly – no profit will be made on this, everything will be ‘a’-cost’.’ “Eating, according to him, neither the US government nor the foreign guests will be charged any extra.
Remembrance Of The Old Controversy
If you remember, Trump had made a similar announcement during his first term (during 2019-20) that he would hold the G7 summit at his resort. But there was tremendous opposition then – people were saying that this is a conflict of interest, that is, the President is using his position for personal benefit.
Ultimately, Trump had to withdraw that decision. On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic also came at the same time, so the conference was held online.
Trump says that this time, everything will be completely transparent and there will be no personal gain of any kind. The government has also stated that “D” real Resort will not get any profit, only expenses will be recovered.”

On the other hand, this year’s conference is in South Africa. But Trump has said that he will not go there because there are differences between his government and the South African government. Vice President J.D. Vance will go to America in his place.
