Operation Sindoor Turned Into Operation Tandoor

Operation Sindoor Turned Into Operation Tandoor

On May 7, 2025, India’s army carried out Operation Sindoor, hitting nine spots in Pakistan and the area of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan. This was in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 Indian civilians.

Pakistan condemned the attacks, labeling them as an ‘act of war,’ reported that at least 26 civilians were hurt, and said its military would take ‘appropriate actions’ along the Line of Control (LoC).

At the same time, people on social media are jokingly calling Pakistan’s expected response ‘Operation Tandoor,’ but there hasn’t been any official confirmation of that name.

This situation has led to worldwide calls for calm, increased worries about a larger conflict between two countries with nuclear weapons, and discussions about whether these kinds of strikes are legal, practical, and what their impact on people would be.

The Indian Armed Forces and the Pakistani military were involved in a conflict where India launched missile strikes called Operation Sindoor, and Pakistan promised to respond with something they informally called ‘Operation Tandoor’ on social media. This happened in nine places in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, with fighting along the Line of Control.

The events took place on May 6 and 7, 2025, to stop militant groups related to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba after a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Pakistan’s reaction was meant to show they were strong and united.

Even though everyone mostly agrees on what happened, different sources have different numbers for how many people were hurt (India says 31 militants died; Pakistan says 26 civilians were killed) and whether they aimed at civilian buildings.

Indian Government’s

India believed that it had information about possible terrorist attacks coming from camps in Pakistan, so it needed to take action with Operation Sindoor.

The External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, talked to other leaders, like the prime minister of Qatar, about how careful and accurate the operation was.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a big meeting with chief ministers and security leaders to assess our readiness inside the country and discuss our diplomatic plans.

Pakistani Government’s

Pakistan insists that the places targeted were just regular neighborhoods, denying India’s accusations of having terrorist bases there.

Islamabad has permitted its military to take action across the Line of Control, but Operation Tandoor has yet to be officially announced.

Pakistan asked for an unbiased investigation into the Pahalgam attack to check if New Delhi’s claims about Pakistan’s involvement are valid.

UN Secretary‑General António Guterres

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for everyone to be cautious with military actions, saying that a fight between two countries with nuclear weapons could affect the whole world.

There are a lot of unverified posts saying that Pakistan shot down Indian jets or destroyed airbases in Srinagar, but official sources have confirmed none of this.

Data & Casualty Pak VS India

  • Targets Achieved: 9 places—4 in Pakistan (like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and more) and 5 in PoK.
  • India says 31 militants have died, while Pakistan reports that 26 civilians were killed and 35 others were hurt.
  • Pakistan says they shot down 5 Indian jets, but India hasn’t said anything about it.

The Kashmir area has caused three wars since 1947 and is still one of the most dangerous places in the world. Recently, India has been taking steps to stop terrorism before it happens, which is similar to what they did in 2019. This has made the ongoing distrust and arguments over the land even worse.

The back-and-forth situation between Operation Sindoor and the internet’s ‘Operation Tandoor’ shows how delicate peace is between India and Pakistan. New Delhi focuses on preparing for threats, while Islamabad wants evidence and solutions, raising important questions.
