Mir Ali, North Waziristan (December 17, 2025), Fierce clashes erupted in Mir Ali Tehsil of North Waziristan this morning after an IED blast targeted a convoy of security forces, which continued for several hours.
According to local sources, at least one armoured vehicle was destroyed in the blast, following which heavy gunfire was exchanged between militants (possibly affiliated with TTP) and security forces.
There were reports of shelling from gunship helicopters and mortar shells during the clashes, which hit civilian houses in nearby villages like Moski and Hasokhel. Residents said that several people, including women and children, were injured due to the crossfire and shelling.
One civilian, Naeem (a resident of Moski), succumbed to his injuries. The number of injured is said to be more than a dozen, while livestock has also been damaged.
Markets and schools in the area are closed, and people are confined to their homes. Some reports also include protests and appeals for peace by elders.
No official statement has been issued by the ISPR or the authorities so far. The exact number of deaths and injuries could not be independently verified, as information in conflict-affected areas is limited and contradictory.
The incident is another example of the ongoing instability in North Waziristan, where civilians are often affected by militancy and security operations. Residents of the area have appealed to both sides to cease fire and protect civilians.
