Special Edition Putters and Golf Balls Honor Adam Sandler’s Famous Golf Comedy Sequel.

On July 11, 2025, Callaway Golf, using its Odyssey brand, introduced a special edition Odyssey Hockey Stick Putter and Chrome Tour golf balls to celebrate the upcoming Netflix release of Happy Gilmore 2 on July 25, 2025.

The famous hockey stick-style putter, inspired by Adam Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore, is a unique collector’s item priced at $499.99, generating excitement among both golf enthusiasts and fans of the movie.

The launch, perfectly timed with the sequel’s release, brings back memories of the 1996 cult classic while offering new products for today’s audience.

The original Happy Gilmore movie was released in 1996 and became a big hit due to its humorous jokes and Adam Sandler’s portrayal of a hockey player who becomes a golfer. The hockey stick putter, a funny symbol of Happy’s unique playing style, became extremely famous among fans. Now that Happy Gilmore 2 is set to be on Netflix, Callaway has taken the opportunity to redesign the renowned putter under its Odyssey brand, which is famous for producing high-quality golf gear. The new putter and special golf balls are designed to blend the nostalgia of the movie with a modern golfing style.

"We’re excited to bring Happy Gilmore’s famous putter to life for both fans and golfers," said Tim Reed, who is the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Callaway Golf. "This special edition release shows the fun and spirit of the movie while highlighting Odyssey’s great craftsmanship."

The Odyssey Hockey Stick Putter is a 44-inch club made for right-handed players. It features a 57° lie angle and a head constructed from stainless steel, with a White Hot Urethane face insert. The design resembles a hockey stick and features a grip that feels like tape.

It even comes with a headcover that has a tube sock style and says “Just tap it in.” This putter costs $499.99 and doesn’t follow USGA rules, so it’s perfect for casual games or to show off. The Chrome Tour golf balls are sold for $59.99 per dozen and feature cool designs, such as Happy’s hockey jersey, and fun quotes like “It’s all in the hips.”

  • Availability: Pre-orders began on July 11, 2025, exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy, with general sales starting on July 25. The online stock sold out quickly, and only a few units are available in stores, with some units also listed on eBay.
  • Collectible Appeal: The original putter from 1996 sold for a substantial amount at auctions (such as $6,000 for signed sets), which means the new version could also be a popular item.
"We’re super excited to make Happy Gilmore’s famous putter real for all the fans and golfers out there," said Tim Reed, the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Callaway Golf. "This special edition shows off the fun and vibe of the movie while highlighting Odyssey’s amazing craftsmanship."

“Golf collectors are excited about this putter,” said Sarah Thompson, who knows a lot about golf memorabilia. “Since it’s a limited edition and is linked to Happy Gilmore 2, it’s something every fan should have, even if they can’t use it in tournaments.”

The launch aligns with the cultural resurgence of Happy Gilmore, fueled by anticipation for the sequel. The movie, featuring Adam Sandler in his familiar role, is set to take us on another wild golfing adventure, with fresh characters and special appearances that heighten the excitement.

Callaway’s products tap into this buzz, blending pop culture with sports. The putter’s steep price and unique design make it a highly sought-after collectible, while the golf balls appeal to players seeking practical, themed equipment.

With the release of Happy Gilmore 2 on July 25, 2025, more people are likely to want the putter and golf balls, which could drive up resale prices. If the sequel performs well on Netflix, Callaway might release more themed products. Fans and golfers should keep an eye on Callaway’s website or stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods for news about restocks.
